GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This dataset contains business districts located in FDOT District 2. This GIS layer was produced by the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council (NCFRPC) under contract with FDOT District 2 in early 2005, and by the Northeast Florida Regional Planning Council (NEFRPC) under contract with FDOT District 2 in early 2006. This is one of many layers that fall into the general category of "sociocultural" GIS data.

USER NOTES:
This data is provided 'as is'. GeoPlan relied on the integrity of the
original data layer's topology

This data is provided 'as is' by GeoPlan and is complete to
our knowledge.

This layer is complete for the time period in which it is dated,
provided that the informational sources or agencies provided
complete and accurate information and maps.

GeoPlan relied on the integrity of the attribute information within the
original data.

This data is provided 'as is' and its horizontal positional accuracy
has not been verified by GeoPlan

This data is provided 'as is' and its vertical positional accuracy
has not been verified by GeoPlan

A note concerning data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale
datasetsare not suitable for some project, analysis, or
modeling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best
available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that
are at the county level.

1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base
mapping such as property parcel boundaries.

1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that
are at the multi-county or regional level.

1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that
are at the regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should
be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with
your data before using it for projects or analyses. Every
effort has been made to supply the user with data
documentation. For additional information, see the
References sectionand the Data Source Contact section of
this documentation. For more information regarding scale
and accuracy, see our web pages at:

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
North Central Florida Regional Planning Council - Process Steps:

Alachua
CRA = parcel query from Property Appraiser, EZ = shapefile from
Mike Edelson, Gainesville City Planning Dept GIS specialist.
The maps were obtained in digital format from the property appraisers,
by querying the parcel data tables - parcels in business districts are
specially coded to note tax advantages in those areas.

Bradford
Pam Whittle at Bradford County Chamber of Commerce gave street
boundaries over the phone. The layer was created by hand digitizing
the boundaries.

Columbia
The feature in the layer was hand digitized from a paper map acquired
from the planning council.

Dixie
The features in this file were hand digitized using a paper map taken
from the NCFRPC Enterprise Zone application

Gilchrist
This shapefile was hand digitized using a paper map acquired from
the planning council.

Hamilton
This layer was created using an existing shapefile acquired from
Kevin Parrish at the planning council.

Levy
The CRA was done using and existing shapefile and hand
digitizing from a paper map . For Williston, an existing shape file
from Bill Taylor, WRPC was used. Cedar Key was done using the
pre-existing city boundary obtained from Cedar Key attorney
David Coffee, and hand digitized from a digital photo taken of a map
on his wall.

Madison
Business districts, EZ and CRA, shapefile was done by creating a
new shapefile and digitizing hand drawn maps.

Suwannee
Live Oak CRA shapefile was done by creating a new shapefile by
hand digitizing a map obtained from the planning council.

Taylor
This layer was created using and editing an existing shapefile.

February, 2005 to June, 2005
Process Date: 20050601

Northeast Florida Regional Planning Council - Process Steps: 1. Obtained the locations of the areas of interest from resources in varying formats. Some were verbal descriptions, some were hand-drawn maps, and others were digital image maps that were emailed to us. 2. Features were digitized using cadastral parcel polygons, street centerlines, and section lines as a base. 3. Final layer was checked for quality control. Any discrepancies were noted and resolved. Process Date: 20060601
GeoPlan Center - Process Steps GeoPlan received this data, via CDROM, and performed the following: -Reprojected to the FGDL Albers HPGN map projection. -Merged datasets together to create one FDOT District-wide shapefile. -Restructured the attribute table to fit the SCE Data Specification Document Standards. -Added FGDLAQDATE field based on the date FGDL acquired the data from the source. -Added DESCRIPT field based on 'NAME' -Added SOURCE field based on Data Source.
