GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This dataset contains 2019 cemetery boundary location information for the State of Florida. It is a combination of cemeteries and other types of burial ground locations from approximately 24 different data sources including; Florida counties, parcels, the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (GNIS), Florida Division of Historical Resources (SHPO) cemetery features, SuperPage cemetery address locations, and more. This dataset contains fields denoting the location, and other information for cemeteries located in Florida. This data is meant to be used for planning purposes only and is not intended to represent a 100% inventory of cemeteries in Florida. Cemetery locations that have been verified are marked with the letter V in the FLAG field. Please Note: Boundary information is often generalized and not exact. This layer is a replacement for the previously released FGDL layer GC_CEMETERYBND_NOV15.shp

A note about data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets
are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes.
Please be sure you are using the best available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
county level.
1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such
as property parcel boundaries.
1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
multi-county or regional level.
1:125000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be
considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data
before using it for projects or analysis. Every effort has been
made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional
information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact
section of this documentation. For more information regarding
scale and accuracy, see our webpage at:

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
The GeoPlan Center performed the following steps in order to create the November 2015
statewide cemetery boundaries data layer.

GeoPlan used the available 2014 parcel tax data records, gathered by
PANDA Consulting from the 67-County Property Appraisers and the
State Department of Revenue (DOR), to create the GC_CEMETERYBND_NOV15 shapefile.

Parcels that intersected the GC_CEMETERY_NOV15.shp were selected and exported
to a new facilities boundary layer and given the point layers same unique GCID number.
Each location was reviewed and abutting parcels that contained cemetery property were
appended to the existing facility boundary.

All GC_CEMETERY_NOV15 attribute table information was joined over based on the
corresponding unique GCID number.

The GC_CEMETERYBND_NOV15.shp PARCELID and OWNER fields information was
shared back to the GC_CEMETERY_NOV15 point layer based on the GCID.
Process Date: 20151111

The GeoPlan Center performed the following steps in order to create the May 2019 statewide cemetery data layer. GeoPlan added 61 cemetery features. Some of the features added were discovered through SHPO. Other features were acquired via the 2018 Parcel dataset and county website textual information. Cemetery locations were checked using imagery and Google Street View and either marked as Verified or Not Verified in the FLAG field, please see the FLAG field Attribute Definition for more information. During the Spatial and Tabular QAQC updates were made. Next GeoPlan Center performed the following attribute table adjustments. -Socio-Cultural Effect data fields were updated. -Upper cased all records. -Added DESCRIPT field based on NAME. -Added FGDLAQDATE field and populated it.
