USER NOTES:
This dataset is a compilation of spatial data (parcels boundaries) from individual county's property appraiser's offices and attribute information (property records) from the Florida Department of Revenue's Tax 12d-8 tables. In order to combine the spatial and attribute information, modifications were made to the parcel identification numbers in the original attribute tables associated with the parcel boundaries. See the Data Lineage section below for more details.
FGDL QUALITY ASSURANCE STATUS:
-Parcel polygons dataset for each county was converted to shapefile and reprojected to Albers HPGN using ArcToolbox
-Parcel Identification Number (PIN) in each parcel polygon dataset was manipulated to be consistent with the PIN of the FDOR property tax records. See Data Lineage Summary below for more details.

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
1. The latest GIS data containing the parcel polygons and their attribute data was obtained by county from participating property appraiser's offices in the state of Florida.
2. The Tax 12d-8 tables for the year 2002 were received in database format (dbf) from the Florida Department of Revenue.
3. The attributes of each parcel polygon layers was checked to see if there was a field in the attribute tables containing a parcel identification number.
The format of the parcel identification number (PIN) for each county was compared to the format of the PIN number in the FDOR tax data tables. If these did not match, the order of the PIN number in the parcel data was switched to make it match. There are several different ways the parcel number may be shown. Many times the first numbers of the parcel number is actually the Section Township and Range numbers that the parcels fall into. Other times the order may be switched such as TRS or RST or STR. It was sometimes necessary to manipulate the table combining the fields, section, township and range, or deleting spaces or dashes. We always tried to keep the integrity of the Tax 12d-8 data, and only manipulate the county's parcel attribute table. Because there are a large number of records in each parcel attribute table, it was more convenient to use Microsoft Access instead of the using Microsoft Excel for the table manipulation.
4. All other fields besides the Parcel Identification number were deleted from the county parcel data. The area, perimeter, and acreage were updated. A summarize was performed on the PIN number to show how many Parcel Identification numbers were duplicates, not unique.
5. The Tax 12d-8 property tables were then joined to each county's parcels attribute table based on the parcel identification number field. This process was done using both ArcMap and ArcView3.3. The result was spatial dataset consisting of parcel boundaries for each county with associated Tax 12d-8 information for each parcel.
